That awkward moment when people attempt to use science to invalidate the lived experiences of people with vaginas.

Ahahahaha, this sort of thing is nothing new.  Men having been using “scientific fact” to have something to base their misogynist agendas in forever.  It’s like how the ancient Greeks used the story of Pandora’s Box (it was a jar, guuuys~) to justify keeping women literally locked up in the backs of their houses.

an entire box of ableism: When you use the word "womyn", you insult women.

Etymology lesson!

Once upon a time (back in the days of Old English) male humans were called weremen and female humans were called wifmen. Wereman meant “man” (this is still seen today in words like “werewolf”, which of course means “wolf man”) and wifman meant “wife…

With all due respect, though, this is kind of irrelevant because it ignores the connotations that have sprung up around the words “man” and “woman”.  Like it or not, there are connotations now - man means “male person” and woman means “female person” to most (disregarding the fact that a male is not necessarily a man and a female is not necessarily a woman for simplicity’s sake).  It’s like saying “oh I can use the word gay to describe my mood because it REALLY means happy, not homosexual!”

And the word wifman has the same connotations, when you think about it.  A woman can be described by her role as the wife of a man?  Either way you spin it, it’s still that dehumanizing, cultural bullshit we put up with now. XD

I’m not personally a fan of the word womyn, but I defs get the point behind it, and I feel like this is yet another attempt to undermine feminist efforts with FACTS~ which is something I’ve had more than enough of.
